The Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, welcomed today (April 11) the acceptance by the Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, of the recommendations of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission to appoint the Right Honourable Lord Collins of Mapesbury and the Right Honourable Lord Clarke of Stone-cum-Ebony as non-permanent judges to the Court of Final Appeal, and the Honourable Mr Justice Andrew Cheung Kui-nung as the Chief Judge of the High Court.
Mr Wong said the appointment of the two Law Lords will bring in a wealth of common law experience, and he fully shared Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma's confidence that Mr Justice Cheung will be an excellent Chief Judge.
