Ling Lung Cantonese Opera Troupe set to perform in May

     Led by veteran actors Ng Chin-fung and Tang Mi-ling, the locally-based Ling Lung Cantonese Opera Troupe will perform the newly written "Li Qingzhao" and traditional work "Nymph of the Azure Pond" in May.

     Li Qingzhao was a famous ci lyrics poetess during the Song Dynasty. In the production - which is inspired by her lyric "A Postscript on a Record of Inscriptions on Metal and Stone" - Li traces the tumultuous life that she and her husband, Zhao Mingcheng, led in the last years of the Northern Song regime.

     The second production, "Nymph of the Azure Pond", describes the love story between a rich man who has come down in the world and the Carp Nymph.

     The performances will start at 7.30pm. Also performing are Yau Sing-po, Yam Bing-yee, Chan Hung-chun (only on May 15), Lui Chi-ming, Lam Tin-yau, Liu Kwok-sum (May 27 and 29), Cheng Wing-mui and Wan Yuk-yu. Details are as follows:

     These performances by the Ling Lung Cantonese Opera Troupe are presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. All lyrics and dialogue will be with Chinese and English subtitles. Tickets are now available at URBTIX outlets, on the internet and by credit card telephone booking. Senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients may receive a 50% discount (limited tickets for students and CSSA recipients on a first-come, first-served basis).
