Special Stamp Issue: "Green Living" (with photo)
************************************************

Hongkong Post today (March 30) announced that a set of special stamps on the theme of "Green Living" will be released for sale with associated philatelic products on April 14.

Hong Kong has experienced phenomenal social progress and economic advances over the past few decades.  As the territory becomes an international financial centre and a global trading hub, there is increasing community awareness of the concept of "sustainability", which advocates a suitable balance between development and conservation.  In this context, embarking on green way of living is conducive to the objective of building a better future for our future generations.

Hongkong Post seeks to promote "Green Living" as a positive means to contribute towards sustainable development.  Set in refreshing and uplifting colours, the four stamps deploy a tender green shoot as background to highlight common green initiatives such as water conservation, emission reduction, energy saving and waste recycling.  The stamp sheetlet bearing a leaf-shaped design is the first of its kind and augurs well with the theme, while the stamps, stamp sheetlet, First Day Cover and Presentation Pack are all printed on FSCTM-certified paper that satisfies stringent standards on the use of raw materials and production processes.

Official First Day Covers will be put on sale for $1 each at all post offices effective from tomorrow (March 31).  Meanwhile, the stamps and associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office, Tsim Sha Tsui Post Office, Tsuen Wan Post Office and Sha Tin Central Post Office on the same day.  Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from March 31 to April 7.  Further information may be obtained from the website of Hongkong Post at www.hongkongpost.com.
