Joint school concerts to showcase spectacular variety of world music

     Since February the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department has been presenting a series of joint school concerts under the title "World Music Tour". The final three concerts, to be held from March 29 to April 9, promise a spectacular "world music gala" for audiences to enjoy a variety of world music.

     The concert on Tuesday (March 29) at 7.30pm at the Auditorium of Sha Tin Town Hall will feature the American choral works "Red River Valley" and "Jamaica Farewell", British folk song "The Turtle Dove", Xinjiang folk song "Send me a Rose", drum and wind ensemble performances of the works "Toro", "The American Trilogy" and popular Chinese folk songs.

     The concert at 3pm on April 2 (Saturday) in the Auditorium of Tuen Mun Town Hall will feature wind and choirchime ensemble performances of the works "St. Peterburg March", "Sakura" and "Londonderry Air", a jazz choral version of "Don't Know Why" and Cantonese and Korean folk songs.

     The final concert will be held at 2.30pm on April 9 (Saturday) at the Auditorium of Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Programme highlights include percussion and wind ensemble performances of the works "Djembe Fun", "Addam's Family Theme", "Let's have fun", "Ukrainian Bell Carol", "Paso Flamenco" and Haitian folk song "Yellow Bird".

     Tickets priced at $30 for the joint concerts are now available at all URBTIX outlets. Half-price concessions are available for full-time students, senior citizens, people with disabilities and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients.
