An officer and an employer fined for breaching MPFS Ordinance

The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:

     An officer and an employer were fined a total of $4,000 at the Kwun Tong Magistracy today (March 23) after being convicted of offences under the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance.

     Lam Wing Yung, an officer of Gold Universe International Travel Company Limited (BR no.: 21484338), was charged with an offence under sections 7A(2)(a) and 44 of the Ordinance. The defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to make MPF contributions for an employee from the employer's own funds to the relevant registered scheme for the contribution periods in December 2008 and January 2009. The defendant was fined $1,000 for each summons, totalling $2,000.

     Gold Universe International Travel Company Limited was charged with an offence under section 7A(2)(a) of the Ordinance. The defendant pleaded guilty to two counts of failing to make MPF contributions for an employee from the employer's own funds to the relevant registered scheme for the contribution periods in December 2008 and January 2009. The defendant was fined $1,000 for each summons, totalling $2,000.
