Woman arrested for murdering baby girl in Kwai Chung

     Police arrested a 34-year-old woman in connection with a murder case in which her six-month-old daughter was killed this afternoon (March 22).

     About 1.15pm, police officers found the 34-year-old two-way permit female holder wandering on Kwai Tsing Bridge near Tsing Yi. Subsequent enquiry with the woman revealed that her six-month-old daughter had collapsed inside their residence at Shek Wah House of Shek Lei Estate in Kwai Chung. Police officers sped to the scene and forcibly entered the flat. The baby girl was found collapsed on a bed inside.

     The baby girl sustained injury on her neck and was rushed to Princess Margaret Hospital in unconscious state. She was later certified dead at 2.38pm.

     The woman was arrested for murder and will be detained overnight pending further enquiries.

     A post-mortem examination will conducted tomorrow (March 23) to ascertain the cause of death of the baby girl.

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Kwai Tsing are underway.
