Roving exhibition features 2011 Population Census (with photo)
********************************************************

The Census and Statistics Department is staging a roving exhibition in the city to boost people's understanding of the 2011 Population Census, which will take place from June 30 to August 2 this year. The aim of the census is to obtain up-to-date benchmark information on the demographic and socio-economic characteristics of the population and on its geographical distribution.

The exhibition highlights the new multi-modal data collection approach (including e-questionnaire available online, mailed questionnaire and face-to-face interview) to be adopted in the census as well as the changes in the characteristics of Hong Kong's population in the past decades. People can also learn more about various aspects of the census, including the history, legislation and the stringent data privacy protection measures.

A population census has been conducted every 10 years in Hong Kong since 1961. The information collected is vital to the Government in planning and policy formulation, and to the private sector for business and research purposes.

The exhibition is being held at Hoi Lai Shopping Centre in Sham Shui Po until March 30. Admission is free. It will then be moved to other places as follows:
