An additional flight arranged for Hong Kong Residents to leave Tokyo (with photos)
*********************************************************

Due to the evolving situation at the Fukushima nuclear facility and disruptions to transport, power and other infrastructure in Tokyo, today (March 18) the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government once again advises Hong Kong residents currently in Tokyo to consider returning to Hong Kong or moving to the south of Japan.

A HKSAR Government support team of 26 officers arrived at Tokyo today to ensure that necessary assistance is rendered to facilitate the early return of Hong Kong residents from Tokyo. A helpdesk has been set up at Keio Plaza hotel (Shinjuku, Tokyo). Today, around 150 Hong Kong residents have been arranged to take the additional flights from the Narita airport.

Tomorrow (March 19), another additional flight from Narita Airport (CX 2509, departing at 09.50pm, local time) is available. Hong Kong residents are advised to call (852) 1868 or email to 1868@immd.gov.hk if they wish to take this additional flight. Airport transfer will be provided to residents taking the additional flight if they assemble at the helpdesk at Keio Plaza hotel 6.5 hours prior to flight departure. Residents may also make their own arrangement to the Narita airport. In addition to the helpdesk, the support team will continue to station at the Narita and Haneda airports. Details of the helpdesk and updates will be promulgated at the websites of Security Bureau, Immigration Department and Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in Tokyo.

Hong Kong residents who need to stay in Tokyo are strongly advised to register their telephone numbers, email addresses and local addresses with the Immigration Department via: 1868@immd.gov.hk.

Security Bureau will continue to closely monitor the situation and issue updates through the media and the Outbound Travel Alert webpage (www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota).

Residents outside Hong Kong who need assistance may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868. The Chinese Embassy in Japan has set up a hotline (81-3-34033064) to render assistance to Chinese citizens including Hong Kong residents.
