de Sarthe Fine Art expands to Hong Kong
***************************************

de Sarthe Fine Art, a leading gallery specialising in 19th and 20th century masters, paintings and sculptures, today (March 18) announced the debut of its first gallery in Asia. Opening in Club Lusitano Building on Ice House Street, Central, this new gallery complements de Sarthe's gallery in Arizona (USA) and its soon-to-open gallery in New York City.

"My wife and I have been travelling frequently to Asia over the past 30 years and our business has grown extensively in the region," said Mr Pascal de Sarthe, the founder of de Sarthe Fine Art. "As the Asian art scene continues to grow, Hong Kong provides us with an ideal platform from which to reach collectors across the region. It is the perfect hub for the Asian region and for us to continue and build our relationships with Asian collectors."

Mr de Sarthe added, "Our business focus is in the secondary market of Impressionist, Modern, Post-War and Contemporary master paintings and sculptures. We will launch the Hong Kong gallery with an exhibition of 10 masterpiece paintings from 1952 to 1964 by Chinese artist Zao Wou-ki. Our long-term plan is to bring a new show to Hong Kong every two months." Over the coming months, de Sarthe Fine Art will bring major exhibitions to Hong Kong, including in May an exhibition of new and unique works by American artist David LaChapelle whom the gallery represents in Asia.

Associate Director-General of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mr Andrew Davis, welcomed the setting up of de Sarthe Fine Art in Hong Kong. He said, "Hong Kong is the world's third largest art market by auction sales turnover after New York and London. Being in Hong Kong allows art galleries easy access to the buying power and collecting passion of collectors in Mainland China and the region. We are happy to see de Sarthe Fine Art bringing Eastern and Western art masterpieces to our city, enriching the art scene in Asia, and taking advantage of the ease of doing business in Hong Kong."
