Fatal traffic accident in Wan Chai

     Police are investigating a traffic accident in Wan Chai this morning (March 18) in which a 56-year-old man died.

     About 9.10am, a taxi driven by the 56-year-old man stopped at westbound Lockhart Road outside the Duke of Windsor Social Service Building. It reportedly skidded forward and crashed into a light goods vehicle stopped in the front.

     The taxi driver was found collapsed on the taxi. He was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 9.36am.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island, are under way.

     Anyone who saw the accident or has any information to offer is urged to contact the investigating officers at 3106 8800.
