Government sets up "health desk" for passengers from Japan (with photos)
***********************************************************

A "health desk" was set up at noon today (March 16) for passengers arriving from Japan. The desk is located on the fourth floor of Hong Kong International Airport in the restricted area of the Arrivals Hall.

Under Secretary for Security, Mr Lai Tung-kwok, said that passengers from Japan may approach the health desk for services if they do not feel well, particularly those who have stayed in the northeastern part of Honshu, Japan, in the past few days. Signs have been erected in the restricted area of the Arrivals Hall to guide passengers to the health desk. Passengers may also seek directions from staff at the Temperature Check Points.

The health desk will be staffed by members of the Auxiliary Medical Services, who will ask the passengers about their condition and provide appropriate services based on their needs. The Port Health Office will also provide consultation services as appropriate.

Passengers suspected to have been contaminated by radiation will receive a decontamination service from staff of the Fire Services Department on the spot, and will be sent to hospital for treatment if necessary.
