Condolence message to quake victims by FS (English only) (with video)
*********************************************************

Following is the condolence message by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, to the quake victims in Japan before the unveiling ceremony for the Nissan LEAF Electric Vehicle at the Piazza, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department's Headquarters this afternoon (March 15):

Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen,

First of all, I would like to say a few words in English to our friends from Japan.

We are all shocked and saddened by the recent catastrophic events in Japan.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your fellow countrymen back home, following last week's devastating earthquake and tsunami.

We have all seen on television the shocking images of the impact of the disaster. We have also heard stories of heroism and courage of the Japanese people in facing the ordeal.

The people of Japan are known for their strength and resilience in overcoming difficult times. The way the Japanese people have dealt with this situation with such dignity and discipline fills me with total admiration. I have no doubt that the Japanese spirit and unity will help your nation recover from this disaster.

Japan has a special place in the hearts of many Hong Kong people. Myself included. Please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences, as well as our heartfelt support in recovering from this crisis.
