Chief Executive extends deep sympathy to people and government of Japan

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, this afternoon (March 11) wrote to the Japanese Prime Minister, Mr Naoto Kan, to extend to the people of Japan and the Japanese Government his deep sympathy and condolences following the earthquake and tsunami that have hit Japan today.
In the letter, Mr Tsang stated that he was deeply saddened by the loss of life and destruction that this natural disaster has caused. The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government stood by the Japanese people in facing this crisis and stood ready to offer any help that they might consider useful during this difficult time.
