Fatal traffic accident in Wong Tai Sin

     Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Wong Tai Sin this morning (March 11) in which a 79-year-old man was killed.

     About 9.08am, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 27-year-old man was travelling along Clear Water Bay Road towards Sai Kung. When approaching No. 11 Clear Water Bay Road, the LGV reportedly rammed onto the pavement on the left and knocked down a 79-year-old male pedestrian and two female pedestrians, aged 37 and 51.

     The male pedestrian sustained serious head and legs injuries and was rushed to United Christian Hospital where he was certified dead at 9.48am. The two female pedestrians were also sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and United Christian Hospital respectively.

     The driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and was released on bail pending further enquiries.

     Investigations by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon East are under way.
