HK Chamber Choir to perform Bach's "Easter Oratorio"
****************************************************

The Hong Kong Chamber Choir, under the baton of conductor Michael Ryan, will perform Bach's "Easter Oratorio" in April.

The programme will consist of four works by Bach: "Christ lag in Todesbanden, BWV4" (Christ lies in Death's Bondage); "Ich weiss mein Erlöser lebt, BWV160" (I know that my Redeemer lives); "Jauchzet Gott in allen Landen!, BWV51" (Rejoice unto God in all Lands!); and "Easter Oratorio, BWV249".

Conductor Michael Ryan, soprano Rosaline Pi, counter-tenor Enico Luk, tenor Sam Lau, baritone Patrick Chan, bass Edmund Kwan and organist Wong Kin-yu will be accompanied by the Hong Kong Chamber Choir and the Hong Kong Soloists in performing Bach's spectacular masterpieces.

The Hong Kong Chamber Choir was established in 1999 with the specific mission of promoting and performing demanding choral works composed for a small choir. The choir operates on the principle that a good solo vocalist can also be a good ensemble singer so the choir places great emphasis on vocal (as individual) and choral (as chorister) techniques. Consequently many members are also fine solo singers in their own right. Over the years, the choir has given a number of successful performances, including Schutz's "Christmas Story", Handel's oratorio "Alexander's Feast", Bach's "St John Passion", Haydn's "The Creation" and Purcell's "Anthems".

Presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, "Hong Kong Chamber Choir - Bach's Easter Oratorio" will be at 8pm on April 3 (Sunday), at the Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall. Tickets priced at $120, $100 and $80 are now available at all URBTIX outlets, on the Internet and by telephone credit card booking. Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens aged 60 or above, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) recipients (limited tickets for CSSA recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis).
