Update on cluster of Human Swine Influenza cases in forensic rehabilitation ward at Castle Peak Hospital

The following is issued on behalf of the Hospital Authority:

     Regarding the announcement earlier on a forensic rehabilitation ward in which some patients had been confirmed with Human Swine Influenza (HSI), the spokesperson for Castle Peak Hospital (CPH) issued the following update today (March 2):

     One more male patient, 30-year-old, in the ward has presented with flu symptoms. Appropriate viral tests were arranged for the patient and the test results were positive for HSI. The patient has been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for treatment under isolation and is in stable condition.

     Admission to the ward has been suspended and restricted visiting to the ward has been imposed. Infection control measures have been stepped up. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for follow up.
