The Hospital Authority (HA) Chief Executive Dr Leung Pak-yin met members of the Doctors Staff Group Consultative Committee and Council Members of the Hong Kong Public Doctors Association and Frontline Doctors Union this evening (February 28) to discuss issues relating to doctors manpower.

Dr Leung expressed his commitment to resolve the turnover and workload issues of medical staff and promised to come up with more concrete measures after consolidating the views of all medical staff he has met in the recent weeks.

The measures proposed and discussed during the meeting include adding more promotion posts, special honorarium for excessive duties, and clerical support and 24-hour phlebotomist services to relieve doctors from non-clinical ward duties.

Tonight's meeting is one of the meetings and hospital visits lined up during the past week for HA Chairman Mr Anthony Wu and Chief Executive Dr Leung to meet and understand the concern of frontline doctors.

Mr Wu has joined the Secretary for Food and Health Dr York Chow this evening to visit frontline doctors of Tuen Mun Hospital.  Earlier in the day, Mr Wu and Dr Leung have separately visited Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital, Kwong Wah Hospital and Queen Mary Hospital.
