Restaurant in Yau Ma Tei ordered to suspend business
****************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yau Ma Tei to suspend business for 14 days. The operator repeatedly extended food business illegally, in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, located on the ground floor of 45 Temple Street, was ordered to suspend business from today (February 28) to March 13.

"In November last year, two convictions on the breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $13,000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

He said the food premises licensee also had a record of two convictions in December 2009 and May 2010 for the same offence. A total fine of $11,000 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches had led to business suspension for seven days from August 27 to September 2 last year.

The spokesman reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
