Thirty four building plans approved in January

     The Buildings Department approved 34 building plans in January - 13 on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and 10 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 22 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, four were for factory and industrial developments, and two were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 13 building projects that, when completed, will provide 36,515 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 284 units, and 66,146 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 16 building projects.

     The department also issued 13 occupation permits - three on Hong Kong Island, six in Kowloon and four in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 15,859 square metres, involving 156 unit, and 91,097 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled about $1.7 billion.

     In addition, seven demolition consents involving seven building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,184 complaints against unauthorised building works in January, and issued 841 removal orders on unauthorised works.
