CSSA caseload for January

     The overall Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) caseload in January 2011 showed a decrease of 478 cases over December 2010 representing a decrease of 0.2%, according to the latest CSSA caseload statistics released by the Social Welfare Department today (February 23).

     Total CSSA caseload at the end of January 2011 stood at
282,698 (see attached table), with a total of 464,839 recipients.

     Analysed by case nature, unemployment cases registered a month-to-month decrease of 1.1% to 29,496 cases while low-earning cases showed a decrease of 0.9% to 14,284 cases.

     Single-parent cases also registered a decrease of 0.4% to 34,243 cases.

     However, both permanent disability and old-age cases registered a month-to-month increase of 0.1% to 18,396 cases and 153,871 cases respectively.
