The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:

The Legislative Council (LegCo) will for the first time hold a series of exhibitions and career talks in three local universities in the coming few weeks to promote the work of LegCo as well as the job opportunities in the LegCo Secretariat.

Ms Pauline Ng Man-wah, Secretary General of the LegCo Secretariat, hoped that through these exhibitions and career talks, university students would better understand the role and functions of LegCo and the services provided by the LegCo Secretariat.

"During the career talks, we would introduce the job opportunities and some of the immediate job vacancies in the Secretariat to the students to arouse their interest in joining our professional team and assist them in planning their future career development," Ms Ng said.

The first exhibition will be held at G/F, Benjamin Franklin Building of Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) from Monday (February 21) to Friday (February 25). At the exhibition, exhibition panels featuring the composition, powers and functions of LegCo, law-making process, public engagement in the work of LegCo, work and services provided by the LegCo Secretariat and career opportunities in the Secretariat will be displayed. Leaflets introducing the work of LegCo and job opportunities in the Secretariat will also be distributed. Staff members of the Secretariat will station onsite from noon to 2pm daily during the exhibition period to answer students' enquiries.

Meanwhile, the first career talk will be held on Tuesday (February 22) from 3.30pm to 5pm at T Y Wong Hall, Ho Sin-Hang Engineering Building, CUHK. Secretariat staff will conduct a briefing to promote seven major ranks in the Secretariat, including Council Secretary, Assistant Legal Adviser, Research Officer, Translation Officer, Public Information Officer, Educator and Visitors Services Assistant. An onsite recruitment exercise will also be conducted for some job vacancies after the talk. Application forms for these job vacancies will be available during the exhibition period.

CUHK will be the first stop of this series of exhibitions and career talks. The other two exhibitions and career talks would be held at Hong Kong Baptist University and the University of Hong Kong next month.
