Visit the Marine Department's booth at the Education and Careers Expo 2011 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) to learn more about Hong Kong as an international maritime centre and the varied work of the Marine Department.
Gain an understanding of the wealth of career opportunities in the maritime industry both at sea and ashore.
Four ranks, namely Assistant Marine Controller, Marine Inspector II, Marine Officer and Surveyor of Ships, will deploy representatives to Booth 1C-B10 in Hall 1E of the HKCEC. They will introduce their work and career prospects and answer any questions.
At the booth, there will be exhibition boards providing appointments-related information, including entry requirements, principal duties and pay scales. Promotion videos of Marine Officer and Surveyor of Ships ranks will also be shown.
To arouse interest in the industry, visitors will have an opportunity to try "steering a ship" in the harbour by means of a full mission simulator.
The Education and Careers Expo 2011, to be held between February 17 and 20, is organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
