Government issues Amber Outbound Travel Alert for Bahrain and Jordan

     In view of the recent developments in Bahrain and Jordan, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government today (February 16) issued an Amber Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) for the two countries.

     A government spokesman reminded residents that anti-government demonstrations occurred in Tehran recently and the Amber OTA for Iran remains in force.

     The spokesman said, "Those who plan to visit these countries or already there should monitor the situation and exercise caution."

     The Security Bureau will continue to monitor the situation there. Any update will be issued through the media and the bureau's OTA webpage, www.sb.gov.hk/eng/ota .

     Residents who need assistance while outside Hong Kong may call the 24-hour hotline of the Assistance to Hong Kong Residents Unit of the Immigration Department at (852) 1868.
