"Tidal Flow" to be implemented at Wong Tai Sin Temple

     Police may implement a "tidal flow" system at Wong Tai Sin Temple to facilitate worshippers visiting the temple during the Lunar New Year period.

     In views of worshippers will arrive well before the opening hours of Wong Tai Sin Temple, Police will set up queuing areas outside the Temple, Wong Tai Sin Plaza, a section of the pavement on Lung Cheung Road, and the playground at Wong Tai Sin Upper Estate.

     "Crowd management measures will be put into force at Wong Tai Sin Temple from 6 pm on February 2 to 7 pm the following day, and daily from 7 am to 6.30 pm on February 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14 and 17." a Police spokesman said.

     "Should the temple be overcrowded, a "tidal flow" system will be carried out for worshippers' safety, and Police officers will direct worshippers to enter the temple in groups," he noted.

     Worshippers are required to enter the temple in a one-way flow. No worshippers will be allowed to stay inside the designated area marked with yellow box at the temple.

     "Worshippers are urged to follow the advice given by Police officers and take extra care of their personal belongings as well as their young children and elderly companions," he added.

     Police in conjunction with Housing Department, and Food and Environmental Hygiene Department will take strict enforcement actions against hawkers causing obstructions in the vicinity of the temple.

     The following special traffic arrangements will be implemented from 6 pm on February 2 to 7 pm the following day, and daily from 7 am to 7 pm on February 4,5,6,7,8,9,12,13,14 and 17.

(1) A section of Shatin Pass Road between Lung Cheung Road and Fung Tak Road will be closed to all traffic. Only franchised public light bused or vehicles with permits issued by the Commissioner for Transport will be allowed access to the section.

(2) During the road closure period, the taxi stand on the eastern side of Shatin Pass Road near Lun Hop Tsuen will be temporarily suspended. A temporary taxi drop-off point will be arranged at the westbound of Wong Tai Sin Road outside the rear of Wong Tai Sin Temple.

     Police will continue to take strict enforcement actions against illegal parking during Lunar New Year period. Any illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without prior notice.
