Special traffic arrangements in Lam Tsuen

     Police will implement crowd management and special traffic arrangements to facilitate members of the public visiting the "Wishing Tree" in Lam Tsuen, Tai Po, during the Lunar New Year from February 3 to 17.

     "Police will continue to take strict enforcement actions against illegal parking. During the Lunar New Year period, any illegally parked vehicles will be towed away without prior notice," the spokesman said.

     "As a large number of people are expected to visit the 'Wishing Tree' in Lam Tsuen, we are calling on the public to make use of public transport to access the area so as to minimise the chance of traffic congestion," a police spokesman said.  

     The following traffic measures will be implemented from February 3 to 9, and may also be implemented from February 10 to 14 depending on the prevailing traffic situation, from 7am to 7pm daily:

Temporary restricted zone:

- All vehicles will be temporarily prohibited from picking up/setting down passengers and loading/unloading goods at:

(a) a section of the access road to Fong Ma Po Village between its junction with Lam Kam Road and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office; and

(b) a section of Lam Kam Road between the access road to Tong Sheung Tsuen and Lam Kam Road Interchange, except franchised buses and green minibuses.

     The following traffic measures will be implemented from 7am until 7pm daily between February 3 and 17:

Road closure:

- A section of the access road to Fong Ma Po Village between Pai Lau and Lam Tsuen Rural Committee Office will be closed to all vehicular traffic except emergency vehicles.

Temporary traffic diversion:

- Depending on the prevailing traffic situation, all vehicles accessing Lam Kam Road (Pat Heung bound), except franchised buses, green minibuses, taxis with passengers and vehicles of Lam Tsuen residents, may be required to travel via the slow lane of the slip road leading from northbound Tolo Highway to Lam Kam Road Interchange.

- Depending on the prevailing traffic situation, public light buses and taxis may be allowed to drop off or pick up passengers at the bus stops on Lam Kam Road near Hang Ha Po Tsuen and Tong Sheung Tsuen. Plying for hire is strictly prohibited.

- A temporary vehicle holding area will be set up between Lam Tsuen Public School and Hang Ha Po Tsuen to facilitate visitors alighting/boarding vehicles from 7am to 7pm between February 3 and 17.

- Special green minibus route No.25K will run from MTR Tai Wo Station to Fong Ma Po from 10am to 7pm between February 3 and 10.  A temporary minibus stop will be set up inside the temporary vehicle holding area. Special bus route No. 64K will run from MTR Tai Po Market Station to Fong Ma Po from February 3 to 9.

     Members of the public are urged to take heed of instructions of police at the scene.
