Special traffic arrangements for Lunar New Year Night Parade

     Police will implement crowd management and special traffic arrangements in Tsim Sha Tsui on February 3 (Thursday) to facilitate a night parade to celebrate the Lunar New Year.

     The parade will be held in Tsim Sha Tsui between 8pm and 9.30pm on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

     To facilitate the public to watch the parade, arrangements including road closures, traffic diversions and suspension of parking spaces will be implemented from 3pm to midnight.

(A) Phase One
-----------------

     The following roads will be closed from 5pm:

1. Canton Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Salisbury Road;
2. Southbound Kowloon Park Drive between Peking Road and Salisbury Road;
3. Ashley Road between Haiphong Road and Peking Road;
4. Hanknow Road;
5. Lock Road;
6. Northbound Nathan Road between Bowring Street and Salisbury Road;
7. Southbound Nathan Road between Granville Road and Salisbury Road;
8. Cameron Lane;
9. Cameron Road between Nathan Road and Carnarvon Road;
10. Haiphong Road;
11. Humphreys Avenue;
12. Carnarvon Road between Nathan Road and Bristol Avenue;
13. Ichang Street;
14. Mody Road between Nathan Road and Bristol Avenue;
15. Peking Road between Canton Road and Kowloon Park Drive;
16. Peking Road between Ashley Road and Nathan Road;
17. Middle Road between Ashley Road and Salisbury Road;
18. Star Ferry Bus Terminus;
19. Salisbury Road between Canton Road and Kowloon Park Drive;
20. Eastbound Salisbury Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Chatham Road South;
21. Eastbound Salisbury Road Underpass; and
22. First lane of westbound Salisbury Road between Nathan Road and Kowloon Park Drive, including Hong Kong Culture Centre pick-up/drop-off lay-by area.

     The following traffic diversions will be implemented from 5pm:

1. Traffic on southbound Canton Road will be diverted to u-turn to northbound Canton Road outside China Hong Kong City;
2. Traffic on southbound Kowloon Park Drive will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Peking Road;
3. Traffic on eastbound Peking Road will be diverted to turn right to southbound Ashley Road;
4. Traffic on southbound Ashley Road will be diverted to turn right to westbound Middle Road;
5. Traffic on westbound Middle Road will be diverted to turn right to northbound Kowloon Park Drive;
6. Traffic on northbound Kowloon Park Drive cannot turn to southbound Canton Road;
7. Traffic on southbound Nathan Road will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Granville Road where the road will be re-routed to one-way eastbound;
8. Traffic on southbound Carnarvon Road will be diverted to turn left to Hanoi Road or to southbound Bristol Avenue;
9. Traffic on westbound Salisbury Road cannot turn right to northbound Nathan Road; and
10. Traffic on westbound Salisbury Road will be diverted to turn right to northbound Kowloon Park Drive.

(B) Phase Two
------------------

     The following roads will be closed from 7pm:

1. Northbound Kowloon Park Drive between Middle Road and Salisbury Road;
2. Westbound Salisbury Road between Kowloon Park Drive and Chatham Road South; and
3. Westbound Salisbury Road Underpass.

     The following traffic diversions will be implemented from 7pm:
1. Traffic on westbound Salisbury Road will be diverted to turn right to northbound Chatham Road South; and
2. Traffic on southbound Chatham Road South will be diverted to turn left to eastbound Salisbury Road.

(C) Bus Diversion and Suspension of Bus Terminus
-------------------------------------------------------------

     All franchised bus terminus, bus stops, Green Mini Bus stops within the operational area will be suspended. Details are as follows:

1. Service of Star Ferry Bus Terminus will be suspended at 5pm;
2. Franchised buses on southbound Nathan Road will be truncated/diverted to westbound Public Square Street and Jordan Road respectively; and
3. Depending on the crowd situation, bus services outside China Hong Kong City will become circular route and all temporary bus stops will be suspended.

(D) Hotel Access
--------------------

     The vehicular access to and from hotels within the affected area will not be permitted during the period of road closure.  

     Vehicles bearing a hotel logo will only be allowed to set down passengers prior to the implementation of road closures at the following locations:

1. Peking Road junction with Kowloon Park Drive; and
2. Mody Road junction with Chatham Road South.

(E) Car park access
----------------------  

     Car parks within the affected area will be closed at the same time when the respective Phase of road closure commences, and will remain closed for the duration of the road closures. Car parks managements should be forewarned that the exact road closure time would be flexible, depending on crowd situation.

(F) On-street parking spaces
----------------------------------

     With effect from 3pm to midnight on February 3, all on-street parking spaces in the southern areas of Tsim Sha Tsui (i.e. south of Austin Road and Cheong Wan Road) will be suspended.

     Drivers are urged to take heed of traffic signs and the direction of Police at the scene. All illegally parked vehicles will be towed away.
