Government Chief Information Officer to vacate post
***************************************************

The Government announced today (January 28) that Mr Jeremy Richard Godfrey will vacate the post of Government Chief Information Officer (GCIO) and leave the Government on February 12, 2011.

Selected through an open recruitment exercise, Mr Godfrey's appointment is for a term of three years, ending early April 2011.  The Government respects his wish to leave slightly ahead of time for personal reasons.

The Government is grateful to Mr Godfrey for his significant contribution to the delivery of the Digital 21 strategy and his commitment to enhancing e-Government services, enriching the government IT programme and facilitating ICT developments in Hong Kong during his service as GCIO.

The Government will soon conduct an open recruitment exercise to fill the GCIO vacancy.  In the interim, Mr Stephen Mak, Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Consulting and Operations), will act up as GCIO.
