Customs smashes a mobile drug storage centre with $1.4 million of drug seized (with photos)

     Hong Kong Customs Drug Investigation Bureau smashed a mobile drug storage centre inside a car park in Shau Kei Wan this afternoon (January 26) and seized 12 kilogrammes of ketamine and 820 tablets of nimetazepam valued at $1.4 million.  A 32-year-old man was arrested.

     In the afternoon, Customs officers mounted an anti-narcotics operation at a car park in Shau Kei Wan and intercepted a private car. Three kilogrammes of ketamine were found in the car and the driver was arrested. Customs Officers escorted the driver to another private car in the same car park and a further seizure of nine kilogrammes of ketamine and 820 tablets of nimetazepam were found in the car.

     The driver will be charged with two counts of "Trafficking in a dangerous drug".  He will appear at Eastern Magistrates¡¦ Court tomorrow.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence.  The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
