Forty six building plans approved in December 2010

     The Buildings Department approved 46 building plans in December 2010 - 20 on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and 15 in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 28 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, five were for commercial developments, one was for factory and industrial developments, and 12 were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on nine building projects that, when completed, will provide 81,654 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving 1,035 units, and 121,501 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for eight building projects.

     The department also issued 18 occupation permits - seven on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 97,095 square metres, involving 855 units and 37,532 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in December 2010 totalled about $3.2 billion.

     In addition, 11 demolition consents involving 11 building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,482 complaints against unauthorised building works in December 2010, and issued 3,586 removal orders on unauthorised works.
