The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
The Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li will leave for Beijing today (January 24) for a four-day visit at the invitation of the Supreme People's Court.
While in Beijing, Mr Ma will meet officials of the Supreme People's Court, the Supreme People's Procuratorate, the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council and the Ministry of Justice.
He will also call on the Legislative Affairs Commission and the Basic Law Committee of the National People's Congress Standing Committee.
He will be accompanied by Permanent Judge of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Justice Patrick Chan and Judiciary Administrator Miss Emma Lau.
He will return to Hong Kong on January 27.
