Second Meeting of the Steering Committee on Regulation of Sale of First-hand Residential Properties by Legislation
**********************************************************

The Steering Committee on Regulation of the Sale of First-hand Residential Properties by Legislation held its second meeting today (January 17).  The meeting deliberated on the scope of the legislative framework and considered the recommendations put forth by the Subcommittee on Property Information and Show Flats concerning requirements on sales brochures.

Members generally agreed that the existing requirement for developers of first-hand residential properties to provide sales brochures containing key information about the properties to prospective purchasers had been effective, and suggested this requirement should be incorporated into the proposed legislation.

"The Steering Committee will continue to discuss issues on regulating the sale of first-hand residential properties by legislation.  It will complete its work by October this year with a view to submitting a report to the Secretary for Transport and Housing," a spokesman for the Transport and Housing Bureau said.
