Children needed for aircraft pull event
***************************************

     The Civil Aviation Department and the aviation industry are organising a series of events to celebrate the centenary of powered flight in Hong Kong, which first took place here on March 18, 1911. One of the major events is an aircraft pull to be held in the restricted area inside Hong Kong International Airport from 7am to 10am on March 17. Adult applications to join the event have closed, but there are still some places remaining for children. Children who were born on March 18 (between 2000 and 2004 only) are welcome to submit applications.

     Four teams will pull four aircraft, namely a Boeing B747, two Airbus A330s and a Farman biplane replica, forward for a distance of 50 metres simultaneously. The ten participants of the children's group will pull a replica of the Farman biplane which took to the sky in Hong Kong one hundred years ago. Parents of participating children may accompany them to the venue.

     A briefing session will be held on January 22, while a training session will be held in late February (date to be confirmed). All selected applicants must be present on the above dates.

     Applications for the event can be made via the following means:
* e-submit online: www.100aviationdevelopment.hk;
* download application form at www.100aviationdevelopment.hk, and return by fax to 2845 7160; or
* send by post to Civil Aviation Department, 3/F, Dragonair House, 11 Tung Fai Road, Hong Kong International Airport, Hong Kong, with "Aircraft Pull" marked on the envelope.
