Appointments to Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee

     The Government today (December 30) announced the appointment of the membership of the Intangible Cultural Heritage Advisory Committee for the term from January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2012. The membership of the advisory committee is as follows:

     The terms of reference of the committee are:

(a) To advise on and monitor the conduct of the territory-wide survey on Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage;

(b) To examine the findings and recommendations of the territory-wide survey on Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage for submission to the Government;

(c) To advise on the compilation and, where necessary, updating of the inventory of intangible cultural heritage in Hong Kong;

(d) To advise on the selection and nomination of Hong Kong's intangible cultural heritage items for application for inscription onto the national list or UNESCO's list;

(e) To advise on measures for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage including research on and promotion, enhancement, transmission and revitalisation of intangible cultural heritage; and

(f) To advise on any other issues related to intangible cultural heritage as proposed by the Government.
