Security Bureau's statement on OTA webpage
******************************************

In response to media enquiries, a Security Bureau spokesman said today (December 13) the additional information put onto the Bureau's Outbound Travel Alert (OTA) webpage, including the additional bullet point concerning the Philippines was intended to provide information on assessments made by other administrations. The additional information is not an updated assessment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The same was done to other countries where a travel alert is in force.

The spokesman added that the Bureau endeavoured to review its operation to enhance the reference value of the OTA webpage. Following an ongoing review, improvement measures were pursued to include more information and hyperlinks to facilitate users' easy access to the travel advisory websites of other administrations. Hyperlinks to the websites of a few administrations are also built up for all 60 countries covered by our OTA system, whether or not they are under a travel alert.
