Inviting public views on quality and variety of domestic free television programmes
*********************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Broadcasting Authority:

The Broadcasting Authority (BA) has extended the period for collecting public views on the quality and variety of television programmes provided by the two domestic free television programme service licensees, namely Asia Television Limited (ATV) and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB), until December 31, 2010 to facilitate members of the public to send in their views.

In the context of the mid-term review of ATV and TVB's licences conducted earlier this year, the BA has decided to collect public views on the quality and variety of programmes provided by the licensees on a yearly basis. Upon receiving the views, the BA will follow up with the licensees as appropriate such that their programmes will meet the expectations of the general public.

Members of the public may submit their views in writing to the BA on or before December 31, 2010 by mail to 39/F, Revenue Tower, 5 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai; by fax to 2507 2219 or by email to ba@tela.gov.hk.

A summary of the licensees' programming and advertising requirements and other relevant details are available on the BA website (www.hkba.hk/en/news.html).
