Police today (December 6) appeal to the public for information on a series of arson cases occurred in Mong Kok early this morning.
At about 4.45am, Police received a report that some rubbish was found being set on fire at a rear lane connecting Nathan Road and Nullah Road.
Fifteen minutes later, Police received another report that a number of hawker stalls at No. 222 Fa Yuen Street were also caught on fire.
About 200 residents were evacuated from various buildings at Fa Yuen Street and four women and three men, aged between 27 and 70, including a 40-year-old fireman, were injured in the fire.
At about 5.10 am, Police received a third report that some garbage was also found on fire at the rear lane of Hang On Building, No. 157 Sai Yeung Choi Street North. A man in his forties, wearing a light-coloured coat and jeans, was seen fleeing from the scene after the fire broke out.
After the fire was put out, it was believed that these three fire cases were of suspicious origin. District Crime Squad of Mong Kok District is now investigating the cases.
