Free-admission Music Day at Hong Kong Cultural Centre
*****************************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department will host Music Day, a free activity for family enjoyment, from 3pm to 6pm on December 12 (Sunday), in the foyer, Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

The theme of Music Day is "Scenes from Childhood". Audiences are welcome to sit on the staircase at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre for an afternoon of Chopin and Schumann's music and to reminisce about the joys of childhood.

To mark the end of "Chopin and Schumann Year", 29 young pianists from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts will perform in a three-hour piano marathon, playing Schumann's "Album for the Young", Chopin's "Waltzes" (complete) and Schumann's "Scenes from Childhood". Schumann's "Scenes from Childhood" will be performed with video made by Hong Kong visual artist Silas Fong on the theme "Scenes from Childhood".

Children can draw their own scenes from childhood using crayons and cards provided while listening to the wonderful music.

There will also be a free-admission video exhibition of "Scenes from Childhood" by three local distinguished visual artists -- Lee Kit, Silas Fong and Kenji Wong -- at the foyer of the Hong Kong Cultural Centre from December 6 to 19. Come and explore three different interpretations of "Scenes from Childhood" with Schumann's music.

Enquiries can be made on 2268 7321 or visit www.lcsd.gov.hk/cp.
