The Government will launch a new account-based service delivery platform ¡V MyGovHK (www.gov.hk/mygovhk) ¡V next Monday (December 6) to provide the public with personalised and integrated online access to government information and services.

Introducing the new platform at a press briefing today (December 1), the Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Policy and Customer Service), Miss Joey Lam, said the launch of MyGovHK marked another significant step in the development of citizen-centric e-government services.

"Riding on the success of the government portal GovHK, we have developed MyGovHK with a view to providing a more user-friendly and personalised experience for the public in their interaction with the Government," Miss Lam said.

"After creating their own MyGovHK accounts, users can access various public services through a personalised webpage with a single username and password. They are no longer required to switch between government service accounts and websites to get the information and services they need," she said.

MyGovHK users can set up shortcuts to access their most frequently used services. Users can also link up existing personal accounts for government services with their MyGovHK account to gain direct access to those services. For example, users will be able to register for outbound travel information provided by the Immigration Department, receive electronic demands for rates and government rent and link up their existing eTAX accounts on MyGovHK.

MyGovHK also enables users to personalise the interface with their own choice of colour and logo, and set their own preferences for the type of public information they want to receive. "My Messages" provides a convenient channel for users to receive messages and reminders from government departments. "My Calendar" and "My To-do List" allow users to view and set reminders for items relating to payment, applications and so forth. "My Weather" provides the latest weather forecast and even weather photos of the user's chosen locations.

Miss Lam said that more online services accessible through personal accounts would be integrated into MyGovHK. "To name a few, online library services, e-water bills and online appointment for clinical services will be rolled out in phases over the next two years.

"Other personalised functions including My Road, My RSS Feed, My Bookmark and a form pre-filling function will also be made available in 2011," she added.

GovHK was set up in 2007 as a one-stop portal for online government information and services. It was revamped with enhanced functions and design earlier this year to better serve public needs. The portal, with around 64,000 daily visits, has been very well received by the public.
