****************************************

The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, arrived in Auckland today (November 30) for the first leg of his four-country visit to New Zealand, Chile, Brazil and the United States.

Shortly after his arrival, Mr Tsang had a meeting with the Chinese Consul General in Auckland, Madam Liao Juhua.

He then met with New Zealand's Minister of Trade, Mr Tim Groser, who had flown specifically to Auckland to meet him. Their discussion focused on the Closer Economic Partnership Agreement between New Zealand and Hong Kong that will soon come into force, as well as touching on other topics of current interest.

In the evening, Mr Tsang attended a boardroom dinner organised by the Asia New Zealand Foundation and met some of the city's prominent business people.

Tomorrow, the Financial Secretary will meet with New Zealand's Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Mr Bill English, before going on to sign an agreement on avoidance of double taxation.
