Applications invited for Victoria Park Arts Corner stalls

     The Leisure and Cultural Services Department invites interested individuals and subvented non-governmental organisations to apply to operate the latest round of Arts Corner stalls at Victoria Park from tomorrow (November 8) to help make visits to the Park more joyful.

     The Arts Corner (Phase XII) will be held at the South Pavilion Plaza at Victoria Park from 10am to 6pm on Sundays and public holidays from January 16 to November 27, 2011. Stall operation will be suspended when major events are being held in the Park.

     The Arts Corner will feature a total of 36 stalls selling handicrafts ranging from pottery, straw-weaving work, dough models, paper craftwork, carving work, accessories, floral artwork, sand paintings, cloth artwork to clay work. Other services such as photography, painting, calligraphy, silhouette cutting and sketching or caricature will also be provided.

     Application forms will be available from tomorrow at the Victoria Park Management Office at 1 Hing Fat Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong; and the Eastern District Leisure Services Office on 3/F, Quarry Bay Municipal Services Building, 38 Quarry Bay Street, Hong Kong. The forms can also be downloaded from the website of Victoria Park (www.lcsd.gov.hk/parks/vp/en/help.php).

     Office hours at Victoria Park Management Office run from 9am to 5.30pm from Mondays to Fridays, closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays; while the Eastern District Leisure Services Office is open from 8.30am to 6.15pm from Mondays to Fridays, closed on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.

     Completed application forms should be submitted together with copies of relevant proof of professional knowledge in the respective field (if any) and sample(s) of artwork, handicrafts or photo samples (not more than three pieces) to the Victoria Park Management Office during office hours before 5.30pm on November 19, 2010. Artworks must be the applicant's original work and the handicrafts or photo samples must be produced by the applicant.

     Successful applicants are required to pay a registration fee of $100 and a security deposit of $1,000 for each stall. The security deposit will be forfeited if the stall operation attendance of the successful applicant is less than 70% of the contract time or if the contract is terminated due to failure to comply with contract terms. Successful applicants are required to take up and keep in force a public liability insurance with an indemnity of not less than HK$6.5 million during the contract period.
