The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, will leave for Japan on November 11 (Thursday) to attend the 18th Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting in Yokohama.
Mr Tsang will address the APEC CEO Summit on "Dynamism of Asia Pacific and Global Economy" on November 12, and attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on November 13 and 14.
The theme of the meeting this year is "Change and Action". A wide range of issues will be discussed, including promoting regional economic integration, formulating a growth strategy, enhancing human security, and strengthening economic and technical co-operation.
While in Yokohama, Mr Tsang will meet President Hu Jintao to update him on Hong Kong's latest developments.
On November 11 and 12, the Chief Executive will visit incineration plants in Tokyo and Yokohama to learn about the advanced waste treatment facilities and technology in Japan's local communities.
The Chief Executive will also attend a reception hosted by the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mrs Rita Lau, on the evening of November 11, and speak at the Professional Luncheon of the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan on November 12, in Tokyo.
The Chief Executive will return to Hong Kong on November 14.
During Mr Tsang's absence, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Henry Tang, will be the acting Chief Executive, except during the period when Mr Tang is in Guangzhou attending the opening ceremony of Asian Games on November 12. During Mr Tang's absence, the Secretary for Justice, Mr Wong Yan Lung, SC, will be acting Chief Executive.
