Reading can be fun! Come and find out more at the "Reading Fun Day", organised by the Hong Kong Public Libraries (HKPL) of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, to be held on Saturday (November 6) from 10am to 6pm at designated libraries in 18 districts. It is an occasion for families to enjoy together - through a variety of activities.
A series of activities includes reading talks, puppet storytelling, children's drama, parent-child workshops, thematic book displays, clown twisting balloons sessions, booth games and quizzes. Admission is free for all activities.
A panel exhibition introducing newly diversified public library services, including electronic resources and extension activities, will be held at the designated libraries. The public can also join guided tours led by librarians to experience the services and facilities provided by the HKPL.
To tie in with Reading Fun Day, various activities will also be held at Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL). Activities such as storytelling sessions, book titles guessing games, quizzes, guided tours, thematic book displays and clown twisting balloons sessions, will be arranged.
To help cultivate a love of reading and an interest in using public library services, children are encouraged to join the Reading Charter at any of the 66 public libraries. By doing so, children pledge to visit a public library frequently, to read different kinds of books and to recommend books to others.
Newly registered readers, and readers who borrow four or more library items in any of the HKPL on Reading Fun Day, will receive a souvenir.
All the above activities are conducted in Cantonese unless otherwise specified. Registration for workshops and talks held at the designated libraries can now be made by phone or in person at your chosen library on a first-come, first-served basis.
