Government House will be open to the public on November 7 (Sunday) from 10am to 5pm.
Apart from the beautiful flowers and plants in the garden, visitors will be able to see the rooms where the Chief Executive holds important official functions and receives dignitaries.
"This year marks the 155th anniversary of Government House. To enhance visitors' understanding of this historical monument, there will be display boards showing its history, architecture and important moments, in addition to a number of interesting sketches made by youngsters," a government spokesman said.
"The guided tour services we introduced on the last open day in March were well received. We will continue to provide such services at fixed positions in Government House to highlight the history and architectural features of this distinguished building. Visitors will also be treated to musical performances by the Hong Kong Police Band, student choirs and ensembles while strolling in the garden," the spokesman added.
Government House is usually open to the public twice a year. The previous open day on March 7 this year drew more than 12,000 visitors.
A large number of visitors are anticipated. To ensure that those already in the queue can be admitted in time, arrangements might be made to stop people from queuing up outside Government House before 5pm.
Visitors must enter the garden through the east gate at Upper Albert Road and leave through the main gate. They are advised to make full use of public transport.
Visitors may browse the website of Government House (www.ceo.gov.hk/gh/eng) for details of the open day.
Government House is a declared monument under the Antiquities and Monuments Ordinance.
