The following is issued on behalf of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority:
The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (October 27) successfully pursued six claims in the Small Claims Tribunal amounting to $49,300 on behalf of 10 employees who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the Tribunal's hearings today the six defendants, namely Massgood Investment Limited trading as Masswell Parking Equipment & Consultant Company; Global Wealth Creation Limited trading as D & T; Tastecreator Brand Management Limited; Wong Kong Yiu Nigel trading as N K Wong & Co.; Tong Kim Man trading as Sun Hip Hing Frozen Meat Market and Mickey Weinstock & Co. (HK) Limited, did not appear. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $19,362, $11,332.34, $8,941.92, $8,418.32, $1,086.75 and $200 respectively, being mandatory contributions in arrears with surcharges payable.
The amount awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Adjudicator further ordered the defendants to pay $175, $155, $100, $90, $109 and $86 respectively as the costs of the claim.
