LCSD responds to Sheung Shui tree incident
******************************************

The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) responded to media enquiries on the incident involving the falling of tree branches on Chi Cheong Road in Sheung Shui today (October 26). Staff of the department had visited the woman injured in the incident and wished her a speedy recovery.

The 14-metre tall Khaya senagalensis is under LCSD's maintenance. It is more than 20 years old.

The department last inspected the trees in the area on April 26 this year, including the Khaya senagalensis concerned, during which no irregularities were found. LCSD will conduct detailed investigations into the cause leading to the fall of the branches.

The department has conducted inspections of the tree concerned and other trees managed by the LCSD in the vicinity today, and would closely monitor the condition of the trees in the area and take appropriate follow-up actions as necessary in order to ensure public safety.
