Police are investigating a traffic accident in Chai Wan this afternoon (October 18) in which an 84-year-old man was killed.
About 2.50pm, a light goods vehicle (LGV) driven by a 37-year-old man was travelling on eastbound Island Eastern Corridor. On reaching the junction of Tai Hong Street, it knocked down an 84-year-old man who was crossing the road.
The man, who sustained head injuries, was taken to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital and was certified dead at 6.56pm.
Investigations will be conducted by the Special Investigation Team, Traffic Hong Kong Island.
