Police will implement special traffic arrangements to facilitate a religious event to be held at the Hong Kong Stadium on Sunday (October 17).
The following traffic arrangements will be implemented from about 12.30pm:
Road closure
------------
(a) A section of Caroline Hill Road between Cotton Path and Leighton Road will be closed except for vehicles going to St. Paul's Hospital when the access from Tung Lo Wan Road is closed; and
(b) A section of westbound Hysan Avenue between Hoi Ping Road and Sunning Road.
Traffic diversions
------------------
(a) A section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Stadium Path will be re-routed one way southbound;
(b) A section of Eastern Hospital Road between Stadium Path and Tung Lo Wan Road will be re-routed one way northbound;
(c) Traffic cones will be laid on a section of Caroline Hill Road between Leighton Road and Link Road to allow two lanes of traffic entering Caroline Hill Road from Hoi Ping Road;
(d) Link Road downhill vehicular traffic to northbound Caroline Hill Road will be diverted to turn left onto westbound Leighton Road;
(e) A section of Hysan Avenue between Leighton Road and Hoi Ping Road will be re-routed one-way eastbound;
(f) Traffic cones will be laid on eastbound Hysan Avenue to allow two lanes of traffic to turn right onto Hoi Ping Road;
(g) Westbound Hysan Avenue between Yun Ping Road and Sunning Road must turn left to Sunning Road;
(h) Vehicles leaving the Lee Garden must turn left to eastbound Hysan Avenue; and
(i) Vehicular traffic heading for the Hong Kong Stadium may be permitted to turn right from the off-lane of eastbound Leighton Road to Caroline Hill Road.
Passenger alighting arrangements
--------------------------------
(a) The drop-off zone for coaches will be at the western kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road outside the South China Athletic Association (SCAA) (southern side), the western kerbside of northbound Eastern Hospital Road near Cotton Path and the northern kerbside of Cotton;
(b) The drop-off zone for taxis will be at the southern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road near the eastern side of the Stadium main entrance; and
(c) The drop-off zone for private cars will be at the northern kerbside of Eastern Hospital Road at the eastern side of the Stadium and private cars are not allowed to drop off outside the main entrance of the Stadium.
The following traffic arrangements may be implemented from about 4.35pm until the crowd has dispersed:
Road closure
------------
(a) Caroline Hill Road;
(b) Eastern Hospital Road;
(c) Eastern Hospital Service Road;
(d) Cotton Path;
(e) Northbound Link Road downhill, except for vehicles heading for Link Road No. 1A, 3, 5 and 7;
(f) Hoi Ping Road; and
(g) Leighton Road if necessary.
Traffic diversions
------------------
(a) Vehicles on Leighton Road heading for Link Road will be diverted via Wong Nai Chung Road and Broadwood Road;
(b) Vehicles on westbound Leighton Road will not allowed to turn left on to Caroline Hill Road; and
(c) If Leighton Road is closed,
- westbound traffic from Causeway Road will be directed to Irving Street;
- eastbound traffic from Morrison Hill Road will be diverted via Canal Road West;
- southbound traffic from Percival Street must turn right into westbound Leighton Road; and
- southbound traffic from Canal Road East will be banned from turning left into Leighton Road.
The following arrangements will be implemented throughout the event from noon to 6pm:
A. Learner drivers will be prohibited to use the following roads:
- Leighton Road;
- Sharp Street East;
- Percival Street south of Hennessy Road;
- Caroline Hill Road;
- Link Road;
- Stadium Path;
- Cotton Path;
- Eastern Hospital Road; and
- Eastern Hospital Service Road.
Learner drivers will be prohibited to enter Tung Lo Wan Road from Causeway Road.
B. Suspension of on-street parking spaces:
- Stadium Path;
- A section of northbound Caroline Hill Road between Stadium Path and Cotton Path;
- Eastern Hospital Road service road; and
- Hoi Ping Road including the parking spaces for the disabled.
All car parks along Caroline Hill Road, Stadium Path and Eastern Hospital Road may be closed at short notice when necessary. Vehicles parked in car parks within the road closure areas may not be permitted to leave or enter these car parks during the road closure until the roads are re-opened for traffic.
Motorists are advised to take heed of the instructions given by the Police at the scene. Vehicles parked illegally will be towed away without prior notice.
