Suspected homicide case in Kwai Chung reclassified as murder and theft

     Police today (October 14) reclassified a suspected homicide case in Kwai Chung on October 11 as murder and theft in which an 88-year-old woman died, and arrested a 47-year-old woman in suspected connection with the case.

     Police located the 88-year-old woman lying unconscious in a flat at Fu Nga House in Tai Wo Hau Estate and she was subsequently certified dead at the scene on October 11. A post-mortem examination revealed that the woman died of suffocation.

     During investigation, Police found that some gold ornaments belonged to the deceased were missing. Police later recovered those ornaments in a goldsmith in Tsuen Wan.

     Police today arrested a 47-year-old woman in Kwai Chung for murder and she is still being detained for further enquiries.

     Police had earlier arrested a 50-year-old woman and a 67-year-old man to be suspected in connection with the case. The woman was released while the man is still being detained.

     Active investigations by the District Crime Squad of Kwai Tsing District are under way.
