Yuen Long restaurant ordered to suspend business
************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days. The operator repeatedly extended food business illegally, in breach of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop No. 9 on ground floor and the outside seating accommodation at shop front, Lai Hung Garden, 1 Tan Kwai Tsuen Road, Hung Shui Kiu, was ordered to suspend business from today (October 12) to October 25.

"In June this year, two convictions on the above-mentioned breach were recorded against the food premises," a spokesman for the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said.

"A total fine of $7000 was levied by the court and 30 demerit points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," he added.

He said the food premises licensee also had two convictions in April and July last year for the same offence.  A total fine of $3,500 was levied and 30 demerit points were registered. The breaches had led to business suspension for seven days in January this year.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply with the Food Business Regulation, or their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
