FS visits Washington (with photo)

     The Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, today (October 7, Washington time) started his visit to Washington by meeting key US officials in charge of financial matters and people from credit rating agencies.

     Mr Tsang held a breakfast meeting with the President of the Heritage Foundation, Dr Edwin Feulner.  He then had meetings with Moody's Corporation and Standard and Poor's to update these international credit rating agencies on Hong Kong's latest situation.

     In the afternoon, Mr Tsang attended a lunch hosted in his honour by HSBC in which he updated bankers in Washington DC on the latest situation in Hong Kong.

     This was followed by a meeting with the Chairman of the US Federal Reserve Board, Mr Ben Bernanke.

     In the evening, Mr Tsang met over dinner prominent figures in the Hong Kong Chinese community in the greater Washington area.

     He will attend the plenary session of the IMF/World Bank annual meetings tomorrow as a member of the Chinese delegation.
